GAR I/506 was formed on
15 January 1937 and became GAO 1/506 on 2 September 1938.
At the time of the German attack on 10 May 1940, GAO I/506 was attached
to the Third Army within the Air Cooperation Forces of the ZOAE
(Eastern Air Operations Zone).
The Group was disbanded on 1 July 1940
